"Handcrafted" Mystery

So, I saw this empty store one day and several things caught my attention. I was first drawn to the fact that the building just seemed be deserted...just one day, its occupants up and left - and didn't even close the mailbox after retrieving the last pieces of mail! I wondered what would make someone exit so suddenly, leaving behind all of the belongings that were displayed in the front window.

As I pulled my car into a little parking lot, so I could stop and examine the building a little further, I saw the sign above the door "Handcrafted Gift Items, Made Here, Sold Here" - what a cool idea that so few people have the opportunity to experience: to buy something from the store where it was actually made! So few of us are ever able to actually see anything made right before our eyes. I stood in front of this store, examining its small size, wondering what was actually made inside. The sign says gifts so did that mean little flower baskets, scarves or hats (which would have been appropriate given the time of year!?!), paintings, or maybe pottery goods? Then I returned, again, to the question of why the store is empty. Did people lose interest in these "handcrafted gifts"? Maybe the proprietors moved to a bigger store so they could make even more gifts?

As I walked back to my car I was thinking how the true story of this empty building could be very different than what I imagined but it's still fun to speculate and admire a building that sold what is now becoming a novelty: "handcrafted gifts".

That's the Golden Perspective...what's yours?

Welcome to the first Golden Perspectives blog! Since one of the main ideas behind Golden Pepper Productions is to "Capture your world from a different angle", each post will focus on something that I have seen in my travels - something that caught my attention, something unique or intriguing, or simply something cool that I want to share with everyone! I hope everyone reading becomes involved: let me know what you think of the photos, any guesses of where they might be taken, or answer any questions that I might throw out. There are so many interesting sites in the world around us, we just have to take a few minutes to appreciate them.

So, since we are in the middle of winter how could I not start things off with a "winter scene". When I saw this little pond, I was drawn to the remaining portion of water that failed to freeze over. At the same time, the ice was lit up so much from the early, afternoon sun that I needed my sunglasses! Even though I was surrounded by many passersby, my angle provided me an undisturbed view of winter in action! Now I admit, there is a parking lot full of cars in the background...but don't let it distract you...just enjoy this fountain of water that still manages to flow amidst the sub-freezing temperatures!

Stay warm!
